Moving to Silvrback!

After a few years here on WordPress I decided to move my blog over to Silvrback, a new and shiny blogging platform that is perfect for a technical blog which aims at simplicity and at a distraction-free experience.
The big plus is the Markdown editor, leap and bounds ahead of the WordPress post editor… it has always been somewhat painful to write technical posts on it, but now that alternatives are available at cheap prices (and totally managed in the cloud), I decided to go for it.

As I was already moving I also decided to buy a proper domain, so it will be easier to associate the content of my posts to my profile.
Hopefully this will be my last post here and I hope that the few readers I have will continue to follow me at my new home.

Enough already with words, the new URL to bookmark is

As a bonus, I’ve just published a new tutorial about using Microsoft Azure to send out push notifications over to Android devices, so go check it out!

The way of code 2012 in review

This year has been incredibly busy and full of amazing new technologies and crazy ideas!
This has been a great year for my blog as well, thanks to all of the people that reached it and to those few who left a feedback.
This pages helped me so much in staying inspired and “hungry” for learning, and I believe the next year is going to be even better  for me: I’m planning some interesting posts in the next weeks, with topics like Javascript performance, Javascript promises, Event Sourcing architecture, Node.js, crazy new HTML 5 APIs examples, Web API and Hybrid development.

But I’m also working to be more proficient in technologies like Python and MongoDB, so expect something about this as well.

I wish to all of you a great new 2013 and thanks again for having landed (even if  maybe just once) on my blog!
To close, a WordPress generated annual report for my blog that I decided to make public 🙂

See you in 2013 folks!

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 29,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 7 Film Festivals

we are Valerio and Helmar and this is the opening post of just another software development centric blog.
Why another blog about software development, you may be wondering… well we decided to open this blog as a motivation to keep on studying and experimenting  with new technologies, given that our jobs alone don’t allow us to always keep the pace with latest stuff or simply with stuff we like.
Of course this is also a mean to share our thoughts, doubts, solutions to problems we may deal with at work and we think someone can be interested at, and last but not least to receive feedback that may help us to improve our software design and development skills.
Given that we work and like different programming languages and tools, on this blog you will be able to find articles about both .Net and Java technologies and related stuff.
The blog will have different kinds of entries: from quick tips and tricks posts to full tutorial, plus posts about theoric themes and concepts.
That’s it.
If you want to know more about us, then “About” is the page you are looking for.
